At this point in time all VET programmes are taught in Danish language. Hopefully the college will be able to offer VET courses with English as the medium of instruction in future.
Established in 1805 by a group of master artisans in Aalborg, the college is today a self-governing public institution managed by a Board of Governors and a Management Team. The Chairman of the Board of Governors is Mr. Ib Rasmussen, and the Management Team is headed by the College Director, Mr. Lars Mahler. For each daughter college an Advisory Board is set up with representatives chosen among relevant stakeholders in the professional field covered.
Together with a number of partner colleges in the Northern Jutland region, Tech College Aalborg operated “The Academy of Professional Higher Education (NOEA) - Institute of Applied Management” until 2008.
As from 1 January 2009, NOEA is detached from Tech College Aalborg as business entity and educational institution due to new regulations from the Danish Ministry of Education requiring a separation between institutions providing pure VET and those providing short-term, professional education at university level.
NOEA specialises in first level university education in English language for foreign students. Labelled ‘AP programmes’, NOEA at present offers international education programmes in Hospitality & Tourism Management, Computer Science, and Financial Management. Find more information here.
The International Department of Tech College Aalborg is engaged in VET reform programmes in Central/Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and the Middle East; in enterprise development projects linking Danish companies with business partners in Africa and Asia; and not least in establishing of globalisation activities such as teacher and student exchange programmes, school partnerships and pedagogical development projects at the different daughter colleges.
